Are these the only photographs you have?
Absolutely not!  We have a huge collection of images from all over Northern Ireland, most of which are in the process of being uploaded to the site.  If you have a specific request for a particular image please get in touch and we will check our archives (of around 20,000 images).

Even if we do not have a particular subject in our archive we will be happy to take new photographs to your specification, just email us at PhotoCall@BowlineImages.com and we'll get right on it.

What format are the photos in?

All Bowline Images photos are in JPG format with a sRGB colour space.

What size, quality and resolution of images are available?

All images on site are saved at the highest possible quality, but available at smaller sizes if required.  This allows us to offer images which are perfect quality for commercial use, press, or web use.  

Do you add photos on a regular basis?
Yes. We add photos as they are taken. Click on "Newest Photos" to see the latest photos that we have posted.

Can I submit photos to sell?
Yes..! We do however have strict quality standards in terms of lighting, composition, colour balance, IPTC and EXIF competance and of course, it has to be a 'good picture' to start with. Sign up and show us what you have, if it doesn't make the grade, we'll certainly let you know. 

Do you offer refunds?
Once your purchase is made we can not offer a refund. The reason for this policy is because we offer full access to our entire digital collection of photos and, as such, there is no way for our products to be returned. On a rare occasion we will make exceptions on a case by case basis.

Are there any restrictions on my use of the Bowline Images photos that I download?
Yes. While Bowline Images offers great freedom and a wide ranges of uses, we do not allow the redistribution of our photos, or allow the use of our photos within products that are mass distributed in any type of archive format.

What does my purchase allow me to do with the image?

Images are sold on a Rights Managed licenced for single use, editorial purposes only.  Purchasing an image entitles you to use it for a single publication.  

Commercial rates are available for any image which has the appropriate Model and Property releases.  Should you wish to use any image for commercial, promotional or advertising purpose you must contact us in advance to receive a quotation for a commercial-use licence.  

Now for the legal bit: Failure to purchase an appropriate commercial-use licence may lead to legal action by the model, property owner and/or Bowline Images.  Bowline Images will not be held responsible in any way for any loss, damage, or consequential damages thereso caused, and retains the right to recover in full all costs and unpaid fees for a commercial licence, an unauthorised use fee of £1,000, any damages against it for unauthorised commercial, advertising or promotional use, and may also seek additional damages where appropriate.

If I purchase a subscription are there any other fees I will encounter when downloading from the site?
No, an unlimited membership allows you full access to download any photos on our site at no extra charge.

Is account sharing allowed?
No, sharing an account is no different than distributing our materials to others. Individual accounts must be purchased by your friends and colleagues.

I bought a subscription, but it says I'm not activated, what do I do?
On rare occasions our merchant processors may not send the information of your transaction to our system, so your account may not be automatically activated. Therefore, if you have made a purchase of our yearly subscription and you are not able to access photos Bowline Images using your details, send a support request.

Do you own the rights to my pictures if I upload them to you?

No, you still hold copyright to your image. You are basically allowing us to distribute your image through our systems and sales channel. You will be able to see how many times your image has been downloaded for sale and we will pay you accordingly via PayPal.

How do I log in now that I've been successfully accepted to your site?

On the Home Page you will see a Login on the top right hand side of the page. Click on that where you will then enter the email address and password you used to join, enter those details and on the drop down box below that there is 'Account Type' make sure you select 'Contributor'.

What sort of pictures do you want?

Anything that relates to Northen Ireland. That kind of gives you a broad spectrum to cover, we want high quality images of places, people and if you happen to come across a news story as it's happening then we want press shots too! Don't leave your press shots too late though, if your submitting them after 4 hours of it happening, then they're not going to be of much use to anyone.
